Grey’s Anatomy season 19 ended with a cliffhanger that has fans wondering if Kim Raver is leaving the show, but is there actual reason to be concerned?

During the final episode of Grey’s Anatomy season 19, we hear Teddy complaining about a dental issue of some kind but refusing to go be seen by a dentist. It’s clear that something is going on, but the extent of the pain Teddy is feeling in her jaw does not become clear until the final moment of the season which sees Teddy collapse as she’s about to perform a life-saving surgery on Sam.

As the season ends, Teddy has no pulse leading Yasuda to begin compressions before breaking out the crash cart as Owen races in with Teddy’s fate designed to be the season’s big cliffhanger.  It’s a cliffhanger that has fans wondering if Kim Raver is leaving the show, but is there actual reason to be concerned?

Although the season 19 finale of Grey’s Anatomy ended with Teddy crashing and her life hanging in the balance, we can confirm Kim Raver is not leaving the show and will return for season 20.

Ahead of the season finale’s broadcast on May 18, Deadline broke the news that ABC had negotiated new contracts for several key members of the cast to ensure their return for season 20. Among those ABC inked a new deal with was Raver, which means Teddy won’t be going anywhere.

It’s actually a bit surprising that Raver’s contract status was confirmed before the finale’s broadcast given her character is involved in the season’s big cliffhanger. In announcing Raver’s status, Deadline effectively confirmed that Teddy will survive the events of the finale and won’t be leaving the show.

What will be interesting to see is what exactly happened to Teddy that led to her collapse. Clearly her toothache is connected to something much bigger, but the question remains what exactly was to blame for her collapse?

We should find out when Grey’s Anatomy returns as part of the 2023-2024 season!
