Bode faced the parole board in the Fire Country Season 1 finale. Did he manage to get parole, or did that drug test cause a problem for him?

Caution: This post contains major spoilers from the Fire Country Season 1 finale.

The start of the finale picked up off the back of the previous episode. Most of Bode’s drug tests came back clear except one. And it looked like nobody was willing to believe that he was innocent. How could the test be switched? It’s like everybody believes the justice system isn’t flawed or corrupt.

It led to a lot of questions about whether he would make it through his parole hearing or not. Would he be able to prove that something had happened to his drug test?

What happened to Bode at his parole hearing in Fire Country?

There were three things that could have happened. The first was that he would end up back in prison. That was the worst-case scenario and something he feared. The whole point of the fire program was to prevent him having to serve his full sentence as he proved he was a rehabilitated member of society.

The second was that he would need to remain in the prisoner fire program for the time being. While not ideal, it would be better than going back to prison.

The third was what everyone wanted to see. Bode could walk away a free man after serving his time. From there, he would need to figure out what to do with his life. If he wanted to join up as a firefighter, there would be a lot of tape to go through, but it wasn’t completely ruled out. Or he could find something else to do with his life.

In the end, it was Eve’s love interest created problems. She came in after looking into Freddie’s wrongful conviction, and it was Bode’s connection to him and the drugs that brought her in. She believed that Bode was running a drug game, and she was willing to give Bode some options. It was all dependent on whether he was going to take a fall to get an innocent man out.

During his parole hearing, Bode was willing to admit failing his drug test. He mentioned how it only took “one bad dude” to ruin it all for everyone and that he was that “dude.” We all know that it was a lie, but he was willing to do this for Freddie. It means that he’s back to prison to finish out the rest of his sentence.

Does this mean Freddie has a chance of freedom after all this time? We’ll need to wait for Fire Country Season 2 to find out.
