Happy Memorial Day weekend to all of you. I hope you eat lots of good food at a cookout and enjoy some time with the family. Below, we share with you some of the best movies in theaters or on streaming throughout the weekend.

Any time I have an extended weekend from work, you can find me in one of two places, seated on my couch, catching up on some movies that I missed, or grabbing some popcorn and a red ICEE to watch some movies in the theater. With the number of movies coming out, it’s hard to keep track of and/or watch them all at once.

The best movies to watch this Memorial Day weekend

  • The Little Mermaid, Theaters
  • Fast X, Theaters
  • About My Father, Theaters
  • You Hurt My Feelings, Theaters
  • Reality (5/29), MAX
  • White Men Can’t Jump, Hulu
  • John Mulaney: Baby J, Netflix
  • Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, MGM+ & Paramount+
  • Air, Prime Video
  • The Covenant, VOD

Of course, the weekend’s biggest release comes in the form of the live-action Disney film The Little Mermaid. Personally,  I loved the film and hoped that theaters across the world would be packed with families to check this one out. Halle Bailey is an absolute star as Ariel, and her part in the film will have a lasting impact for generations to come.

Outside of that, we have two other releases in theaters with You Hurt My Feelings, which stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the lead role of Beth, who struggles within her marriage after overhearing what he really thought of her book. The other is About My Father, the movie loosely about the life of comedian Sebastian Maniscalco who also stars in the film alongside of Robert De Niro.

Over on the streaming platforms, you can catch up with one of the biggest surprises of 2023 on Hulu with White Men Can’t Jump. The remake stars Jack Harlow and Siqua Walls in the lead roles. If you are looking for a laugh and a good time, this is the movie for you. Speaking of laughs, John Mulaney’s latest stand-up comedy special, Baby J is out on Netflix and easily one of the best of 2023.

Lastly, you can catch up on some movies you may have missed in theaters by checking out Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, which is available at MGM+ and Paramount+. The Ben Affleck-directed Air about the signing of Michael Jordan to Nike is on Prime Video, and the Guy Ritchie-Jake Gyllenhaal war movie The Covenant has hit VOD.
