Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is on everyone’s minds now that Across the Spider-Verse has hit theaters. Moviegoers who’ve seen the animated film know that we were left wanting more from its cliffhanger ending that introduced more questions and didn’t resolve the main plots put forward in the story.

Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing the sequel in 2023, but at least we won’t be waiting five years to see what happens next. There’s also some information that we can share about the film, which will mark the final entry in Miles Morales’ Spider-Verse trilogy.

Here’s what we know!

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse release date

The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on March 29, 2024, however, this is not a firm date. Variety reports that the film’s three directors–Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson–can’t say if the final Spider-Verse movie will make that theatrical release date but it is well into production.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse plot

An official synopsis hasn’t been released yet. However, we do know the plot of the final film will focus on Miles Morales’ efforts to escape the clutches of the Earth-42 version of himself who became that universe’s Prowler after the death of his father. On this Earth his uncle is alive.

Fans of the film series can also expect to see Gwen’s efforts to save Miles. She’s rallied a team of their friends including new characters Spider-Byte, Spider-Man India, and Peter B. Parker’s daughter Mayday Parker to help her on this mission. They’re using a dimension-hopping watch that Hobie developed so that they can get to Miles before Miguel and Jessica Drew do.

There’s also The Spot to contend with who is hellbent on being Miles’ nemesis and taking everything from him like everything was taken from The Spot the day the collider exploded due to Miles’, and the other Spider-People’s, fight with Kingpin. If he succeeds, Miles’ father, Jefferson, will die as the canon says he will while trying to save the life of a child.

That’s what Miles is trying to prevent and why the Spider Society is trying to find and capture him so those events can unfold. It’s the Society’s belief that Mile’s Earth will unravel and be destroyed if he saves his father. Miles is convinced that won’t happen, and he’s not going to let his dad die because Miguel and the rest of the Spider-People say he should.
