Superman and Lois season 4: Who’s in and who’s out on the cast?

Superman and Lois season 3 hasn’t even finished its run yet, but fans have been on edge about the show’s prospects ever since it’d been left in limbo in regards to its renewal status. Well, the verdict has come in and the superhero family drama will have a fourth season, but it’ll come with significant changes.

As most CW viewers know, majority ownership of the network no longer is split 50/50 by CBS and Warner Bros. While the two companies retain 12.5% of The CW each, its now under the stewardship of Nexstar. The organization has signaled from the beginning that it intends on broadening the network’s audience and turning a profit, which previously hadn’t been a concern because CW’s former parent companies saw a benefit in shows making money for their respective studios even if they didn’t do so for the network. That’s no longer the modus operandi.

In this new era, CW is looking to be cost-effective and that’s meant an extreme cut back on the scripted originals on offer. Superman and Lois managed to eke by with a renewal despite being costly, but its fourth season is not only going to have budget cuts, it’ll also have far less series regulars than fans are used to. Who in the cast has is sticking around for season 4 and who could be leaving the show? Here’s what we know so far.

Superman and Lois season 4 cast

Who’s definitely returning for Superman and Lois season 4?

Deadline reports the Kents will remain series regulars. That means Tyler Hoechlin, Bitsie Tulloch, Michael Bishop, and Alex Garfin will be in the majority, if not all, of the fourth season’s 10 episode run. Joining them is Michael Cudlitz, who plays Lex Luthor.

The actor is credited as a guest star in season 3 and will make his first appearance in episode 12, “Injustice.” His inclusion as a series regular should come as no surprise considering Lex has been a highly teased and anticipated Big Bad.

Who may not return for Superman and Lois season 4?

Unfortunately, there are seven actors who won’t be series regulars in the coming season. That’s Dylan Walsh, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Erik Valdez, Inde Navarrette, Wolé Parks, Tayler Buck and Sofia Hasmik. Their characters are Sam Lane, Lana Lang, Kyle Cushing, Sarah Cushing, John Henry Irons, Natalie Irons, and Chrissy Beppo.

Reportedly, the actors are being offered guest star and recurring status in season 4, but this is dependent on their interest and availability.

Who is definitely not returning for Superman and Lois season 4?

This has yet to be confirmed, however, it’s not likely we’ll see Chad L. Coleman, Daya Vaidya, and Spencer Moore II in the fourth season. The Mannheim plot has finished and though Bruno and Peia were responsible for Lex’s imprisonment, the latter is dead and the former has been arrested. Matteo and Natalie had a romance in season 3, but with Tayler Buck no longer being a series regular, their relationship is likely done.
