4 Fire Country characters who definitely won’t be back in season 2

FIRE COUNTRY stars Max Thieriot (SEAL TEAM) as Bode Donovan, a young convict seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence by joining an unconventional prison release firefighting program in Northern California, where he and other inmates are partnered with elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires across the region. It’s a high-risk, high-reward assignment, and the heat is turned up when Bode is assigned to the program in his rural hometown, where he was once a golden all-American son until his troubles began. Inspired by series star Max Thieriot’s experiences growing up in Northern California fire country. FIRE COUNTRY airs this fall on Fridays (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Fire Country season 2 is set to premiere in the fall, if the show isn’t delayed by the writers strike, and a big question is who from the cast won’t be back.

Obviously, our mainstays aren’t going anywhere. Even with Bode (Max Thierot) in prison and Freddy (W. Tré Davis) on the outside, they’re both liable to be in a storyline about how to get Bode back to Three Rock Fire Camp after taking the fall for a crime he didn’t commit in order to ensure Freddy got released.

Vince (Billy Burke), Sharon (Diane Farr), and Luke Leone (Michael Trucco) are certain to be in the season since the married couple are a significant part of the series and the finale introduced the possibility of Vince’s brother being able to donate a much needed kidney to Sharon. Eve (Jules Latimer), Jake (Jordan Calloway), and Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) make up the main crew at station 42 outside of Vince and Sharon, so we’ll see them again. Manny (Kevin Alejandro) also isn’t going anywhere even though he was entertaining a gig at Nozzle, the private firefighter company.

So who definitely won’t be in the second season of the hit first responder drama? Here’s what we know!

Fire Country season 2 cast: Who won’t be in the season?

Will Riley be in Fire Country season 2?

Riley (Jade Pettyjohn), the youngest member of the Leone family, was a big part of the first season, but her physical presence on the show was limited in capacity. This was due, of course, to the fact that she’d died years earlier and we were seeing her in flashbacks that slowly revealed what had happened to her and why the Leone family had fractured after her death. While she’s likely to be brought up in Fire Country‘s sophomore season, we doubt it’ll be outside of the Leones and her loved ones speaking about her as the story has moved past the night she died.

Will Charlie be in Fire Country season 2?

Charlie’s (Tom Pickett) exit from the show was a joyous one. He’d been coming close to finishing his sentence, but he nearly didn’t make it in “Get Your Hopes Up,” thanks to a fire truck falling on him. Thankfully, his crew and the firefighters at station 42 were able to pull him out from under the engine. However, because that was his last day as a Three Rock firefighter, he hasn’t been seen on the show since and isn’t expect to be in the second season.

Will Rebecca Lee be in Fire Country season 2?

Unfortunately, due to her death in “False Promises,” Rebecca’s (Fiona Rene) time is over on the series. She’d gone out a hero, helping to rescue Eve after she’d spent the day pinned by a fallen tree and nearly dying. However, though the Three Rock crew had cleared Eve from the tree, Rebecca was still in its path when she’d squeezed in to pull a loose branch off of the firefighter. The ground shifted and the tree slammed into her stomach. The force ruptured her spleen, and she died at the hospital. The only way we’ll be seeing Rebecca again is if she shows up in a flashback.

Will Collin O’Reilly be in Fire Country season 2?

It’s highly unlikely that Collin (Zach Tinker) will be in the second season. The last we saw of him he was being arrested in “A Cry for Help.” Collin, whose real name is Alex Shawcross, was revealed to be the serial arsonist. Not only was he not the son of a famed firefighter who was well respected in the Cal Fire community, he’d posed as a nugget so that he could get in on the action to assuage his hero complex. Had his crimes not been figured out, they would have been pinned on Jake as he’d started a fire on purpose as a child that was covered up by Sharon and Vince which had his family thinking he was the one starting fires around the area.

We think it’s safe to say that outside of a revenge story plot, there’s no reason for Collin to be in season 2 as all of his bridges have been burned with the characters.
