Talk to Me release date, cast, and everything we know

In the summer months, we love to go outside and enjoy the nice weather. But, it’s also a great opportunity to do things we might not have time to do in our everyday lives. One of those activities is watching movies! The warmer months always bring new and fun releases for everyone to enjoy. In July 2023, you. might want to head to your local theater to watch horror thriller Talk to Me!

The movie is directed by filmmaker brothers Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou. This is their feature film debut, as they are more known for their YouTube channel, RackaRacka. Their content focuses on live action horror comedy videos. So, this is right up their alley!

Talk to Me release date (When does Talk to Me come out?)

Talk to Me will be released Friday, July 28, 2023 in U.S. cinemas. The Australian film had a preview screening at the 2022 Adelaide Film Festival in October 2022, plus a world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival in January 2023. Now, it’s time for a larger audience to see it and we’ll be able to do so starting July 28!

What is Talk to Me about? (Talk to Me synopsis)

The horror movie is centered around Mia, a lonely teenager who finds out she can conjure spirits through an embalmed hand, per the synopsis. She gets excited about doing this, and brings her friends in on it. Though things start to go wrong when one of the spirits they bring forth claims to be Mia’s dead mother. This releases a “plague of supernatural forces,” with the teen struggling to decide who trust – the living or the dead.

The trailer reveals how Mia continues to use the hand even though you’re supposed to reach out for only 90 seconds, how the spirits are terrorizing the teens, and just how deep Mia gets into all of this. Check it out below:

Talk to Me cast

25-year-old Sophie Wilde takes on the role of Mia. She’s known for her roles as Stan in the series Eden and Sophie Western in Tom Jones. And if you were a fan of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix, then you’ll recognize Miranda Otto who played Aunt Zelda. Check out the full cast list below:

When does Talk to Me begin streaming? (Where will Talk to Me stream after theaters?)

At this time, we don’t know where the horror will stream exactly. In the U.S., A24 is handling its distribution. Since the production company is doing so, the film will most likely stream on Showtime. And as of June 27, 2023, the Paramount+ and Showtime streaming apps have merged, so you’ll probably be able to find it if you’re subscribed to Paramount+. Time will tell.

Will there be a Talk to Me sequel? (Is there Talk to Me 2?)

No official word has come yet on whether there will be a sequel to the production. However, the directors have hinted in an interview with Collider that they have the mythology of the story mapped out. This means the duo does have ideas for a potential sequel if they get one. Here’s what they told the news outlet:

"Everything’s really thought out and put through a mythology hopefully we can expand on if we were able to do a sequel. But yeah, we wanted the characters to be out of their depths. We didn’t explore it that much, so we just sort of hinted at it with the characters. But yes, everything’s ironed out and there’s a whole big bible. It’s called the mythology bible. So we’ve got that."
