Is there no The Idol episode 6?

The Idol fans have a few questions after watching episode 5 of the HBO series. Will Jocelyn return next week with The Idol episode 6? When (if ever) will the Sam Levinson drama return with new episodes?
Lily-Rose Depp and Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd star in The Idol, which tells the story of Jocelyn (Depp), a pop idol struggling to get back on her feet after a tragedy. Jocelyn meet Tedros (Tesfaye), a club owner who promises to help Jocelyn create the biggest album of her career. The series also stars Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Eli Roth and more.
When it was initially announced, The Idol was promoted to feature six episodes, but episode 5, titled “Jocelyn Forever,” seems like a season finale. Maybe, even, a series finale. Now, I’m not saying it’s an excellent conclusion, but still! Here’s what we know…
Is there no The Idol episode 6?
If you haven’t been keeping up with the latest The Idol updates, you may have missed the news that the HBO series has been cut short by one episode. Yes, this means “Jocelyn Forever” is the season 1 finale.
Is The Idol season 2 happening?
At the time of this writing, we’re not sure if The Idol will be canceled or renewed. The change to five episodes from six episodes has nothing to do with this decision, supposedly. According to HBO’s PR team, the fate of The Idol has not yet been decided.
Once Sam Levinson took over the show, the edits and reshoots he worked on totaled to five episodes, so there was no need for a six-episode season. Still, you can’t help but think this is an odd move when six episodes were already teased and expected.
It is being misreported that a decision on a second season of The Idol has been determined. It has not, and we look forward to sharing the next episode with you Sunday night.
