1923 characters who definitely won’t return for season 2

The premiere of season 2 of1923 is still some time away due to the writers strike.

We left off in the series with Father Renaud pulling out all the stops to find Teonna, who had recently escaped the Catholic boarding school but not before killing two nuns who undoubtedly deserved it. The battle between Jacob and Banner is brewing heavily after attending the court date in which Banner was responsible for killing Jacob’s nephew and nearly killing him as well.

If you remember the history in 1883, John is the eldest child of Margaret and James which now leaves Spencer as the heir to the Dutton throne. This is, of course, the Great Depression and Jacob is struggling mightily to not have to take a second mortgage out on the ranch, not to mention the war between him and Banner and Whitfield.

Zane was having his own issues with the law when his wife Alice was arrested, because she’s of Asian descent. Meanwhile Whitfield is staying one step ahead of Jacob and has a traitor working as a livestock agent, the one that Cara was impressed with and hired. I fear that will soon come back to leave her with regrets. It was the livestock agent (Clyde) that gets the necessary information to have Alice arrested.

Whitfield had also slyly paid off Jacob’s taxes in hope that he couldn’t pay him back in time and if he didn’t the deed would be rightfully his. He not only wants everything the Duttons have but he wants everything in the valley. Alex and Spencer’s pirate adventures have finally come to and but they are separated and plan to meet in Bozeman. Spencer will soon be on his way to be the hero they desperately need.

Will Leenah Robinson be in 1923 season 2?

Baapuxti (Leenah Robinson) was the best friend and cousin of Teonna Rainwater. The two of them were thick as thieves but when Teonna went on the run it was just too much to handle on her own. After Teonna had escaped the school, Baapuxti was questioned by Father Renaud and beaten to death after a short line of questioning. Even though she really didn’t know where Teonna went, it seemed to be a lesson to the other girls in the boarding school of what happens when you defy them. In season 2, we will see the effect this has on Teonna as all the people she loves the most are dying around her, for her cause.

Will Jennifer Ehle be in1923 season 2?

Sister Mary (Jennifer Ehle) was one of the sisters at the North Dakota Boarding School for Native Americans. From day one she tortured and punished Teonna Rainwater which ultimately led to her own punishment and then her own death. She was attacked and killed in her sleep. Through those actions, Teonna kept other girls from going through the brutal pain and punishment that she went through.

Will Marley Shelton be in 1923 season 2?

Emma Dutton (Marley Shelton) took her own life after the brutal slaying of her husband John Dutton Sr. She felt that because her son was grown, she didn’t have much to live for and nothing left to give to the world. He was happy with a wife and baby on the way, and Emma didn’t consider that though her children were of age, they still need their mother. Luckily, Jack has a strong maternal connection to Cara Dutton, who helped raise him.

Will Michael Greyeyes be in 1923 season 2?

Hank Plenty Clouds (Michael Greyeyes) was herding some sheep from the reservation when he ran across Teonna Rainwater who had escaped from the Catholic boarding school. He had heart and compassion for what Teonna has gone through and wanted to help her. Unfortunately, helping her was the last thing he would do. He was shot in the back by a priest while trying to protect her. Teonna would later kill them and remain on the run. Hank’s death was not in vain, he died a hero and that will never be forgotten in Teonna’s eyes.

Will James Badge Dale be in 1923 season 2?

John Dutton Sr. (James Badge Dale) was the eldest son of Margaret and James from 1883. With Jake and Cara Dutton, he helped keep his family’s legacy alive. John worked the land with Jacob and was a great husband to Emma and father to Jack. During the gunfight against Banner Creighton and his men over a dispute about sheep he suffered a fatal gunshot wound. If a range war wasn’t in motion then it sure is now.

The above actors aren’t expected to make a return for the second season. Fans will also have to brace for departures in the coming season as well. Season 1 was jam packed full of excitement and intrigue but there are some key characters who probably won’t make it out to reach a season 3, if there is one.
