The Bold and the Beautiful recap (July 10): Hope and Thomas sleep together

Today was a big day for Hope and Thomas fans. It’s been four years since the two have been paired together on The Bold and the Beautiful. Theirs is a romance that’s been slow to bear fruit considering how committed Hope was to her marriage to Liam, and everything Thomas had done since his return to Los Angeles to interfere in that relationship.

In recent months, however, Hope has been singing a different tune about her lead designer. They share a bond that extends past being co-parents to their son, Douglas. It’s had such an impact on the brand ambassador that she cheated on Liam while she and Thomas were promoting the Hope for the Future line in Rome. But, while the intimacy she shared with him stopped at kissing and holding hands in the beautiful locale, it’s grown to include sleeping together back home.

At the top of the episode, the two had noted how fast their hearts were beating after kissing one another again. Hope went in for another kiss, but Thomas asked her about her marriage to Liam which prompted her to remind him that Liam said he was done. He didn’t want to try to fix things, he’d made up his mind  and he knew what he wanted, which isn’t her.

Thomas was struggling to wrap his mind around the idea that Liam was really interested in his sister, Steffy, again, but Hope asserted that he must be. After all, he did tell her that his ex-wife is on his mind now. It was one of the last things he said before leaving the cabin. His parting shot, however, was to tell Hope that he thinks something must be broken in her if she has feelings for Thomas.

What happened today on The Bold and the Beautiful?

For his part, Thomas wouldn’t let Hope think that way about herself. He assured her that she is a good wife and mother. Yes, what happened has put the life she wanted and her family as she knows it in jeopardy, but he promised that they’d get through this together. Thomas plans on always being there for Hope and he made that known.

Swept up in the emotion of it all, she kissed him again but, once more, Thomas put a stop to it. He told her that he couldn’t do this. Of course, this being carrying on with Hope when she’s still attached to Liam. He held her hands, peering down at her wedding band to emphasize his point. Realizing what Thomas was referring to, Hope took a major step and slipped her wedding rings off her finger much to his surprise. She then led him upstairs.

In Thomas’ bedroom, Hope went for it. She pushed Thomas on the bed, kicked off her shoes, and opened her dress. It was clear she had a one track mind and he was right there with her as the soap gave viewers the candlelight and sexy music treatment during the extended love scene.

Wyatt tries to convince Liam to give Hope another chance

While this was happening, Wyatt was doing his best at Spencer to get his brother not to give up on his marriage. To him, it was just a kiss. An ill-advised one that hurt Liam, but it wasn’t something he feels the two can’t work through over time. Liam, however, wouldn’t hear of it.

He acknowledged that he still loves Hope and that this isn’t an easy decision for him, but he also doesn’t believe he can get past her betrayal. Liam has been adamant that Hope knew what pursuing Thomas could do to their marriage and she did it anyway. She chose to hurt them like this, and he’d always been under the assumption that if anything were to happen it would be because Thomas overstepped his bounds not because Hope decided to cross the line.

Liam’s insistence that he won’t budge on his desire for a divorce is the very reason that Hope is certain their marriage is over. She told Thomas that Liam was darn near calm talking to her about calling it quits. He was sure and definitive in his statement, so she believes him when he says there isn’t a future for them.

She may come to regret how fast she moved with Thomas if Wyatt does manage to convince Liam to giver her another chance.

Deacon pays Sheila a visit in prison

Elsewhere, Deacon decided to pop by the prison to check in on Sheila. She was surprised by the visit since she hasn’t had anyone come to see her in some time. Deacon apologized for taking so long to see how she’s been doing. He shared with her that things are going well at Il Giardino and she sweetly informed him that sometimes she pictures herself at the restaurant enjoying his success.

Sheila also inquired into whether Deacon has been seeing someone, but he told her that he isn’t. His focus has been on making his business the best it can be. Hearing that made Sheila happy. She’s locked away now, but if the soap is reminding us of their romance perhaps it’ll be making headway on her storyline soon.
