The Sex Lives of College Girls characters that definitely won’t be in season 3

The Sex Lives of College Girls, a Max original series that survived the streamer’s cancellation spree last year, has found a devoted fan base since its premiere in 2021.

The show centers on four college students who are discovering themselves at the fictional Essex College in Vermont. Everyone knows young adulthood is difficult, it’s a time when you’re experiencing a lot of firsts and stepping out of your parents’ expectations for you to embrace how you see your own future.

Fans have come to adore the series but had to contend with a cast exit ahead of season 2, and they’ll be doing so again with the third season on the horizon. Here’s what we know.

Is Gavin Leatherwood in The Sex Lives of College Girls season 3?

It’s doubtful. Leatherwood exited the series after the first season. As Hidden Remote previously reported, the actor did so because he wanted to explore other opportunities outside of the show. His character, Nico, did get expelled from Essex College, however, his father bribed Admissions at Cornell University, so that’s where the frat bro ended up at the end of season 1.

Is Reneé Rapp in The Sex Lives of College Girls season 3?

In a surprising turn of events, the actress who plays Leighton, is exiting the series. But don’t worry about her storyline being wrapped up offscreen. Variety reports Rapp will be featured in a few episodes in the third season of the show. As such, she’s being billed as a recurring star, however, once that episode arc concludes, that’ll be the last fans see of Rapp on the series.

A confirmed reason for why she’s leaving hasn’t been shared. But Rapp has been very upfront about her music career taking priority over her acting. Her debut album Snow Angel comes out on Aug. 18, she’ll also star in the Mean Girls movie musical in which she’s reprising the role of Regina George, a role she played in the Broadway play.
