Folks, this is going to get worse before it gets better. The writers strike paused and delayed many projects, but things have now escalated to a new level after the actors strike became official on July 13, 2023. What does this mean for your favorite upcoming projects? We share a quick list of the movies delayed by the strikes so you can see what’s coming and what isn’t.

The Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (aka SAG-AFTRA), represents about 160,000 people in the entertainment business. This includes actors, radio personalities, recording artists, and other media professionals. It’s a long list!

As of July 13, 2023, SAG-AFTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have failed to come to an agreement on a new and fair contract. Therefore, the union has voted to go on strike.

What exactly does this mean? To put it simply, Hollywood is shutting down until their demands are met, two of the biggest being fair pay and protection against unauthorized use of AI. Movies (and shows) that were currently filming, or were about to begin filming, can no longer do so. And completed movies with a release date already in place can’t be promoted by the cast or crew. This means no interviews, no red carpet appearances, or even attend events such as the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con.
