We’ve been waiting for more than a year since the season 6 finale of Billions came out in April 2022. Now, we’re getting closer and closer to the Billion season 7 release date!

The drama was created by Brian Koppelman, David Levien, and Andrew Ross Sorkin. The trio also serve as executive producers alongside Christian Soriano and Neil Burger.

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming seventh season ahead of its release!

Billions season 7 release date (Is Billions coming back in 2023?)

The new season has two release dates depending on where you want to watch it, and thankfully it is in 2023! Billions season 7 premieres Friday, Aug. 11, 2023 on Paramount+ and Sunday, Aug. 13, 2023 at 8 p.m. ET on Showtime. So one streaming release date and one linear television one.

"In season 7, alliances are turned on their heads. Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends. And Bobby Axelrod returns, as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the world."

Is Damian Lewis coming back to Billions season 7? (Is Axe in Billions season 7?)

An exciting part of the season is that a beloved character, Axe, is coming back to the show! The actor, Lewis, left in season 5. He will appear in six episodes in the next chapter of the story.

Why was Bobby Axelrod written out of Billions? (What is Damian Lewis doing now?)

According to EW, Lewis chose to leave the series “for a variety of reasons.” One of those was to spend more time with his family who lived in England, while production on the drama mostly takes place in New York City. In April 2021, the actor’s wife passed away at the age of 52. The couple have two children. Since exiting the show, Lewis hasn’t done many projects. He took on the role of Nicholas Elliott in the 2022 film A Spy Among Friends where he starred alongside Guy Pearce.

How many episodes is Billions season 7? (When do new episodes of Billions come out?)

Season 7 will have a total of 12 episodes, six of which will see the return of Axe. We provided a breakdown of the episode release schedule below of when it airs on Showtime each week:

"Prince recruits campaign support and encourages the Prince Cappers to aim high under a new directive for big swings; Chuck negotiates with a ghost from his past to advance a new agenda; Axe shares a glimpse into his new life."

Canceled or renewed: Is Billions season 7 the last? (Is Billions season 8 happening?)

While we of course can’t wait for the new season to arrive, it is going to be bittersweet because it’s the beginning of the end. Billions season 7 will be the last, which means Billions season 8 is not happening. According to TVLine, there could be some spin-offs in the works though.

All six seasons of the drama are currently streaming on Paramount+. Season 7 will also be available to watch on the platform. It costs $5.99/month with “limited ads,” and $11.99/month with no ads except live TV and some shows.
