Justified: City Primeval cast: Who stars in the new limited series?

Raylan Given is back. After eight years, Justified: City Primeval brings back Timothy Olyphant’s fantastic U.S. Marshal, now on a new case in Detroit and ready to bring his unique style of justice to the modern age.

Debuting in 2010, Justified was based on the book by Elmore Leonard with Raylan Givens as a U.S. Marshal who dresses and acts like he stepped out of the Wild West. This is a man who gives a Miami mobster 24 hours to get out of town, or Raylan will shoot him, then shows up the next day to do just that.

That has Raylan busted down to his old Kentucky hometown, where he gets involved in a variety of criminal conspiracies. That includes clashes with childhood friend turned crook Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins).

The series won raves for its gripping storylines, fun guest stars, and Leonard’s distinctive language. It ended after six seasons in 2015 but some talk over the years of a return.

It’s coming in Justified: City Primeval. Once more, working in Miami, Raylan is pulled into a case in Detroit and brings along his daughter Willa. Raylan soon matches wits with Clement Mansel, a psychotic crook in a battle across the Motor City.

Who stars in Justified: City Primeval

Justified fans may be disappointed as Timothy Olyphant is the only original cast member returning for this new mini-series. In a clever touch, Willa is played by Olyphant’s real-life daughter Vivian.

Boyd Holbrook is Clement Mansel, aka the Oklahoma Wildman, the criminal mastermind Raylan clashes with and puts Willa in danger. Aunjanue Ellis is Carolyn Wilder, a local cop aiding Raylan, while Norbert Leo Butz plays an informant.

With a good cast and Olyphant taking on his most famous role, Justified: City Primeval looks to be a fine return for this popular character and a fun crime show to enjoy this summer.

Justified: City Primeval premieres Tuesday, July 18 at 10/9c on FX and streaming on Hulu.
