Mayans MC series ending explained: Who died in the finale?

Mayans MC ended its five season run with a brutal extended finale that had shocking ends for many of its characters. Who lived, who died, and what does that finale mean?

Caution: This article contains SPOILERS for the Mayans MC series finale. 

The episode opened with EZ whipping the Mayans into a full-on war against the Sons of Anarchy, driven by his father’s death. That included EZ personally executing Isaac and desecrating the body to boot.

Meanwhile, Emily’s long game finally paid off as she killed Miguel and his bodyguard to avenge her sister’s murder. Even better, she staged the whole thing to look like a murder-suicide so the cops didn’t suspect her. Without Miguel’s testimony, federal attorney Devlin’s corruption case against Potter went up in smoke as Devlin had already been told by her boss that the higher-ups cared more about a gang war than a federal attorney cooking the books.

Downer had been sent to take care of Celio, only for her to stab him instead. Alvarez’s wife gave birth while Leti decided to kill every Mayans member she could find.

How did Mayans MC end?

The final scene had EZ leading a meeting of the gang, where Nestor was promoted to a full member. Without warning, the council suddenly grabbed EZ as Bishop had learned EZ was the one cutting a deal with the feds and killed a fellow member to keep it quiet.

EZ insisted Angel knew nothing about this, but Bishop demanded he prove it by giving Angel a knife to use on his own brother. EZ tearfully told Angel it was okay, he understood and “tell your son about me.” With a gun literally to his head, Angel stabbed EZ, and then the other Mayans took turns ala Shakespeare.

Even worse? At EZ’s trailer, Sofia was about to tell him she was pregnant when Bottles showed up with a  rifle and gunshots were heard. Leti showed up to find the dog Sally left behind and returned to the Broken Saints club to help them rebuild.

The final scenes showed Bishop was now the new head of the Mayans, only for Potter to lead a squad of agents to raid their headquarters with gunshots ringing out but no confirmation on who was dead or not. “The levee will hold,” Potter mused.

The last shot of the series showed Angel sitting at the ocean, holding his son and his Mayans back tattoo now covered up, showing he managed to escape that life.

Thus, Mayans MC ends in a dark and bloody way that fans of the series should have expected.
