SWAT season 7 had a rough road to begin with, and it still does considering it’ll be a while before we can see the new season. But with the anticipation drumming up to find out how the final season will shape up for the team on Squad 20, led by Shemar Moore’s Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson, we’re eagerly waiting to see the entire cast return. But is there a possibility we will see any former cast members return as their SWAT characters?

When season 6 was nearing completion, it was a while before we found out the fate of the show. At first, the series was canceled, stunning fans and the cast alike. However, after backlash from fans and a campaign to save the show, it wasn’t long before CBS reversed its decision to say goodbye to the series.

The show was eventually picked up for season 7, with a shortened season consisting of 13 episodes. Now with the writer’s strike currently ongoing, there’s a possibility we will not see the show return until, at the very earliest, January of 2024.

No matter the outcome of how things play out, it is likely we will see a majority of the regular and recurring cast return. But what about fan favorites from previous seasons?

SWAT season 7 cast: Who likely won’t return for the final season?

Is Stephanie Sigman in SWAT season 7?

Sigman played SWAT Captain Jessica Cortez, who was also a love interest of Hondo’s. She was on the series when it began in season 1 and continued until the second season finale. Jessica left to join the FBI and has not been seen on the show since. While it would be fun to get an update on her character, it is unlikely we’ll see her return to the show when season 7 airs.

Is Lina Esco in SWAT season 7?

Esco played SWAT Officer Chris Alonso and was with the series from the beginning until she left in season 5. Having started a relationship with fellow Officer Jim Street, Chris eventually left SWAT in order to take over running a safe house for undocumented immigrant women. While Chris has not been seen on screen since, fans do know she and Street are still together. Even though Esco left the series to pursue other projects, there is always a chance she could make an appearance to say goodbye to the show.

Is Peter Onorati in SWAT season 7?

Onorati played Jeff Mumford, who was formerly a SWAT sergeant, as well as Team Leader, who often worked alongside Squad 20. He would eventually leave the series, last appearing in season 4, with his character Jeff retiring after being shot. He did make a reappearance to work on a cold case, but has not been seen since. There likely wouldn’t be a reason for Onorati to return. However, since he had been with the show since the pilot, it would be a great send off to have him appear in the series once last time.

Is Amy Farrington in SWAT season 7

Farrington played Lieutenant Piper Lynch, who was assigned by the mayor to consult and monitor how Hondo’s team worked. She first appeared in season 3 and was last seen in season 4. Based on what the character was brought in for, it is unlikely we will see her reappear as the series comes to an end.

Since it will be some time before SWAT season 7 airs, you can watch past episodes on Paramount+ and fall in love with the SWAT characters all over again.
