The Challenge: USA season 2 release date and everything we know

The Challenge: USA is coming back! Season 2 is primed to premiere on CBS in late summer and air into the fall as the network rolls out a reality TV heavy line-up paired with reruns of their hit procedural dramas, Yellowstone, SEAL Team, and more.
If you’ve been tuning into this particularly difficult competition series since the beginning, you know it takes both brain and brawn to make it to the end to vie for not only the title but also the cash prize. One woman and one man will be able to claim the mantle of Challenge Champion and walk away with $250,000 each from the $500,000 grand prize.
Challenge legends and newcomers will be facing off against each other to see who comes out on top. Here’s everything we know about the show’s sophomore season!
The Challenge: USA season 2 release date
Season 2 will premiere Thursday, Aug. 10 at 10 p.m. ET on the CBS. It’s a two-part premiere but both parts won’t be airing when the season premieres. Part two will air on Sunday, Aug. 13 at 9 p.m. ET.
How many episodes does The Challenge: USA season 2 have?
An official count hasn’t been announced, however, if the second season has as many episodes as the show’s freshman run, it’ll have a total of 12 episodes.
The Challenge: USA season 2 release schedule
You’ll want to be paying close attention to the season’s schedule because, for its first three weeks, it’ll air on Thursdays at 10 p.m. and Sundays at 9 p.m. on the network. Starting Aug. 31, the season will only air on Thursdays at 10 p.m.
The premiere dates you see below have not been confirmed past Sept. 7 but, if the season does have 12 episodes and switches to releasing one episode weekly after Aug. 31, it’ll finale on Sept. 28. After The Challenge: USA season 2 finishes its run, SEAL Team will slide into the 10 p.m. slot on CBS and will air past episodes beginning with season 5.

The Challenge: USA season 2 host
T.J. Lavin returns as host of the program. The pro BMX rider, who was inducted in the National BMX Hall of Fame in 2022 under the Freestyle category, has been hosting The Challenge since season 11 and hosts its spin-offs.
Who won The Challenge: USA season 1 and are they in season 2?
Danny McCray and Sarah Lacina won the first season. You can read a recap of the finale, here. The pair were the only two to solve the Sudoku puzzle and climb to the top of Cerro López. McCray and Lacina aren’t listed as contestants for season 2.
The Challenge: USA season 2 cast
This season’s cast is comprised of 24 contestants. 18 of them have competed in other reality competitions such as Big Brother, Survivor, The Amazing Race, and American Ninja Warrior. Among this group, there are also participants who’ve competed in spin-offs of The Challenge but have yet to earn the title of veteran like the six legendary players in this cast.

As the show is airing on CBS, it’ll be available to stream live and on-demand for Premium Paramount+ subscribers. Those on the Essential plan will be able to stream new episodes the day after they air on the network.
