A Murder at the End of the World release date and everything to know

Updated: Aug. 17, 2023 – Fans of Netflix‘s The OA have been wondering what would be Brit Marling’s next project and we have an answer in the FX series, A Murder at the End of the World, a murder mystery drama created by Marling and Zal Batmanglij. The pair also directed the project and are executive producers along with Melanie Marnich and Nicki Paluga.

While The OA was a mystery with sci-fi, fantasy, and supernatural elements, this series appears to be a thrilling whodunit with a race against the clock to unmask a killer before they strike again. The Crown‘s Emma Corrin plays Darby Hart, a Gen Z detective who is determined to get to the bottom of what happened. Marling will feature in the show as the character Lee.

Deadline reports the series will debut Tuesday, Nov. 14.

The show will be available to stream on Hulu. As it’s an FX on Hulu title, it’ll be exclusively streaming on the platform.

A Murder at the End of the World synopsis

Per Deadline:

"A Murder at the End of the World is a mystery series with a new kind of detective at the helm: a Gen Z amateur sleuth named Darby Hart. Darby and eight other guests are invited by a reclusive billionaire to participate in a retreat at a remote and dazzling location. When one of the other guests is found dead, Darby must use all of her skills to prove it was murder against a tide of competing interests and before the killer takes another life."

Will there be a Murder at the End of the World season 2?

Not likely. The series was billed as a miniseries. While limited series can be renewed for an additional season, they’re typically built to wrap within one season unless there’s more story that can be told or they were conceived as an anthology and could carry on with a different theme or concept.
