Never Let Him Go release date, synopsis, trailer and more

For those who enjoy docuseries’, especially when it involves true crime, Hulu has a new one coming out that will be released in September 2023. Never Let Him Go comes from ABC Studios and will follow the story of a man named Scott Johnson, whose death was shrouded in mystery and controversy.

The four-part documentary comes from Show of Force and Blackfella Films and is executive produced by Jeff Dupre and Maro Chermayeff and follows the death of Johnson, which happened in 1988. The mathematician was in Australia when he died at the young age of 27.

There was controversy surrounding his death, as it was originally reported to be a suicide despite the suspicious nature of how he was found. His brother, Steve, was instrumental in making sure his brother got the justice he deserved.

The film will discuss the tensions between law enforcement and the families, as well as the prevalence of hate crimes against gay men, especially at this time.

Never Let Him Go will follow the investigation and efforts of Scott Johnson’s family to find out what happened to the man following his death. Having come out as a gay man, his family feared for his safety, especially when he moved to Australia. Following his death, his brother Steve especially worked to get justice for his brother, with whom he had been very close.

Despite authorities ruling his death a suicide, the family remained unconvinced, especially since he was found naked at the bottom of a cliff. In the docuseries, viewers will get to see interviews with the investigators involved, evidence that would eventually lead to the person responsible, as well as an interview with the killer’s wife.
