When does Elemental arrive on Disney+? (Release date announced)

Updated: Sept. 6, 2023 – TVLine reports Elemental will begin streaming on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Disney’s latest Pixar animated offering Elemental just hit theaters on June 16. Pixar’s latest movie is set in a world where beings are living representations of the four elements: Earth, air, fire, and water. They mingle in a huge city but usually stick to “their own kind.”

That changes when hot-headed fire elemental Ember (Leah Lewis) meets laid-back water elemental Wade (Mamoudou Athie). The two soon spark into a romance but are threatened by their respective families’ biases and some other dangers.

The film has gotten some good reviews since opening on June 16. Sadly, it also had one of the worst openings of any Pixar movie at just $29.5 million. That follows last year’s Lightyear and Strange World as animated flops. Despite the box office returns, though, fans are already eager to know when Elemental will arrive on Disney+.

Is Elemental on Disney Plus?

At the moment, Elemental is not on Disney+ as the film was designed to be a theatrical release meaning it opened in theaters and will come to Disney+ following its theatrical run. The good news is that while the movie is not currently on Disney+ it will be coming to the streaming service sometime in 2023!

Elemental Disney Plus release date predictions

Like other studios, Disney has a rule that a movie must be in theaters at least 45 days before it can arrive on streaming. Thus, the earliest Elemental could arrive on Disney Plus would be in August 2023.

Some Disney films have arrived on the service 60+ days after their theatrical debuts, but given the film’s struggles at the box office, its arrival will likely be on the earlier end of the spectrum as it’s not likely Disney will attempt to hold the film’s release on Disney Plus for an extended period of time.

Maybe Elemental will be like other films and find a wider audience on home video than it did in theaters. After all, Disney+ is more accessible to many than heading out to a movie theater can be.
