Casual fans may not have figured this out just off the title of the movie, but A Haunting in Venice is the third entry in the movies based on Agatha Christie’s novels that follow the popular Belgian detective Hercule Poirot. But is it a true sequel or can you go in blind to watch this one? Here’s what we know!

Directed by Kenneth Branagh from a screenplay by Michael Green, A Haunting in Venice is a sequel to 2022’s Death on the NileThe movie features the ensemble cast of Kyle Allen, Kenneth Branagh, Camille Cottin, Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, Jude Hill, Ali Khan, Kelly Reilly, and others. The story follows a now retired Hercule Poirot as he is forced to get back into the world of murder mystery after a guest at a seance he is part of turns up dead.

A Haunting in Venice is only available to watch in theaters, distributed by 20th Century Studios. After it leaves the big screen, the movie will more than likely become available to stream on Hulu. Movies to watch before A Haunting in Venice

Are there any movies that are essential viewing for you to understand A Haunting in Venice? No. Not really. This may be a murder mystery, which typically requires audiences to have prior knowledge of the story, Venice is different.

The movie does a great job explaining the story, so you don’t need to know anything about previous events before watching this movie. Not to mention, each film in the franchise follows a different story. However, if you still want to watch Death on the Nile, you can stream it on Hulu.
