Eric was in his element today on The Bold and the Beautiful as he designed with his grandson, RJ, at Forrester Mansion and regaled Donna with his plans for the line that’s percolating in his mind. His creativity is sparking, there are only two things holding him back. His hands, which are struggling to hold his pencil for long periods of time because of his arthritis, and his son, Ridge.

The legendary designer’s vision is being realized by evidence of the bits of fabric strewn across the available surfaces in his living room, the dress form sporting the start of a black evening gown, and the sketch that RJ was working on. Eric did stop briefly to play the piano because he loves it, music helps get his creative juices flowing, and his doctor said it would be good for his hands.

The mood, however, was brought down when Brooke entered the room. She’d come from Forrester Creations after having a talk with Ridge about their kids and Eric. Brooke shared with Ridge that she’s still concerned about Hope and wants to help her figure her life out, she doesn’t want her to have any regrets. But then the conversation moved onto RJ, who is staying at Logan Manor with her and Ridge.

He’s coming off a little directionless to his parents, so she was certainly shocked to see him over at Eric’s surrounded by the odds and ends of design and holding a sketchpad in his hands. Brooke had come over because she, like Ridge, wants Eric to relax and feel confident that he can slip into retirement and travel. This, of course, isn’t want he wants and neither she nor Ridge have caught onto that just yet.

What happened today on The Bold and the Beautiful?

Though, Brooke got an earful when she questioned what was going on at the mansion. She was delighted that RJ has picked up an interest in design but was confused on what they were working on. Brooke was taken aback when Eric explained that they weren’t working at the office because they wanted some privacy and that he doesn’t want the whole team weighing in on his line.

It’s his and no one is going to stop him from creating it. The latter part was emphasized because Brooke had protested that Ridge is the head of couture and the company, so he should get a say. But Eric asserted that he’s Eric Forrester essentially stating that’s all the authority he needs to make this line.

Donna is likely going to land on his side even though Brooke had come over to try to get her to convince Eric to concentrate on having fun and letting the rest of them worry about the company. But perhaps she’ll at least listen considering she was thrown a bit when Eric said he was too busy with creating the line to accept Prince Albert’s invitation to visit. She was, however, enjoying Eric’s flattery and insistence that he keep some of the line private from her and everyone else since he wants to surprise them, especially Ridge.

Speaking of his eldest son, the design icon believes the people Eric placed in charge of the company’s direction have it well in hand. He’s struggling to see why Eric is so concerned about being an integral part of the fashion firm outside of the legacy role he occupies. And, while he had expressed to Brooke that he’d love it if his father mentors RJ, it does leave me wondering if he’s going to bristle at RJ helping Eric create a line behind his back.

Our soap is sure to answer that question in due time but, for now, it looks like he’ll be teaming up with his eldest son, Thomas. The designer had a pep in his step as he delivered coffee to Carter and they chatted about Ridge’s pride in him. As grumpy as Ridge can be, he always lights up when talking about Thomas and Carter shared that information with Thomas who was touched by it.

So touched that when he went across the hall to speak to his father, and took a peek at one of his designs, Thomas asked if they could collaborate more. He’s not going to shirk his duties with Hope for the Future but he feels he has more to learn and he could do so be being by his father’s side. Ridge was happy to hear that and welcomed some bonding time with his son.

It definitely feels like a fashion war is brewing on The Bold and the Beautiful. Ridge and Thomas are under the impression that RJ has no interest in design but they could be disavowed of that notion very soon. It should be a good time as things continue to come to a head, especially since a new arrival is going to add another element to this storyline. Donna already planted the seed of Luna’s introduction as she informed Eric that she’d be stopping by with supplies.

Described as sweet with a cute giggle, Luna is an intern at Forrester. Having sat in on her interview, Donna assured Eric that the fashion student could be discreet, but we’ll be the judge of that, Bold fans. Until next time, stay beautiful!
