The Morning Show is about to premiere its highly anticipated third season. But some may forget some of the big moments of Season 2. So, to prepare for the return of the Apple TV+ hit, here’s a quick recap of Season 2 and what it means for the new year!

Caution: This article obviously contains SPOILERS for The Morning Show season 2

Season 2 of the series began in 2019, shortly after Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) and Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) had taken over the airwaves to expose the toxic environment of their UBA network. UBA did damage control by firing CEO Cory (Billy Cudrup) while Alex quit the show. But with ratings dwindling, Cory managed to talk his way back to power and convinced Alex to return as well.

This caused friction between Alex and Bradley while Bradley was joined by news anchor Laura Peterson (Julianna Marguiles), who she soon began an affair with. Hannah’s family was filing a wrongful death lawsuit against UBA, causing some legal distractions. Bradley also had to deal with her addict brother dropping by to visit.

During all this, Mitch (Steve Carrell) was hiding out in Italy, trying to find a new life for himself. Alex had a brief talk with him, but as a book filled with more stories of his past behavior came out, Mitch drove his car off a cliff and Bradley had to break the news of his death to viewers. She also chastised the author of the tell-all on Alex, getting her public sympathy, which was marred when video of her at Mitch’s funeral showed up.

Then, just as things were already getting bad, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, with UBA feeling the heat of ignoring the story for so long. Bradley took a break from the show to search for her missing brother while Alex found out she had tested positive for the virus. Bradley found her brother clean but in a hospital so she couldn’t get to him, while Cory (desperate to save his failing streaming service) put Alex’s quarantine video on it where Alex told viewers she was tired of apologizing for who she was. Oh, and in the midst of all this, Cory confessed he was in love with Bradley.

What does this mean for Season 3?

Season 3 will now jump to 2022 with flashbacks showing how the team covered the events of the 2020 Presidential election, the January 6 Capitol riots and more. Jon Hamm plays a corporate titan who could buy UBA, which worries Cory. Meanwhile, Alex has her own successful show as Bradley handles being in the spotlight.

It’s also likely to explore the fallout of Cory’s declaration of love to Bradley, who’s still wrestling with feelings for Laura. With Season 2 throwing everyone for a loop thanks to real-life events, it’s intriguing how The Morning Show will build for a bigger season 3.
