As the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes wage on, it seems ABC is calling in the big guns to help fill its Monday night primetime block. The network has announced today that Monday Night Football will be staying put on ABC throughout the current NFL season, meaning football will be staying put on ABC beyond its initial 3-week special presentation.

While ABC has arranged to simulcast coverage of Monday Night Football with ESPN, there are a few exceptions to this arrangement with ESPN being the exclusive home to several Monday night games this fall.

So what exactly does that mean for tonight’s Monday Night Football games? Well, the answer is a bit complicated!

Tonight, there are two NFL games lined up for primetime including the New Orleans Saints vs. the Carolina Panthers. The game will kick off at 7:15 p.m. ET this Monday, Sept. 18, but the game will not be airing on ABC. Tonight’s NFC South showdown between the Saints and Panthers will be airing exclusively on ESPN and will not be airing on ABC.

If you’re hoping to watch the Saints and Panthers game, you’ll need to tune into ESPN as the game is one of three Monday Night Football games that ABC will not be broadcasting this NFL season.

Is Monday Night Football on ABC tonight?

Yes, ABC will be broadcasting Monday Night Football coverage this Monday night but there is a caveat to the scheduling!

Tonight, there are two Monday night games. The first of these two games, the Saints vs. Panthers, will be airing exclusively on ESPN. So if you’re hoping to watch the Saints and Panthers face off you’ll need to tune into ESPN as you will not see the game airing on ABC when it kicks off at 7:15 p.m. ET this evening.

ABC’s Monday Night Football coverage will then kick off at 8:00 p.m. ET with coverage of the Cleveland Browns vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kickoff for the Browns and Steelers game is at 8:15 p.m. and will be broadcast on ABC for fans of the two AFC teams to enjoy.

This means there will be overlap between the two games this evening in primetime and fans will have two games to choose from, airing on two different channels.
