With sad hearts we’re sharing that Billy Miller has passed. The soap star, who died on Friday, Sept. 15 in Austin, TX., was only two days shy of his birthday. He would have turned 44 on the 19th. According to The Hollywood Reporter, though no cause of death has been made available, the actor was struggling with manic depression at the time of his demise.
Miller is best known for his role on The Young and the Restless though he also starred on General Hospital from 2014-2019 as Jason Morgan and Dean Cain, and All My Children from 2007-2008 as Richie Novak which were series regular roles. Outside of soaps, Miller was featured in Suits as Marcus Specter, Ray Donovan as Todd Doherty, and Truth Be Told as Alex Dunn.
Who did Billy Miller play on The Young and the Restless?
From 2008-2014, Miller starred on the CBS daytime program as Billy Abbott, the brother of Jack and Ashley Abbott. The actor was the fourth person to play the character who’s adult version was originated in 1999 by David Tom. Billy Abbott is loyal to his family but is known for screwing up his relationships both familial and romantic. He also struggles with a gambling addiction that has been the cause for strain whenever he relapses.
Miller was nominated for a Daytime Emmy six times for his soap roles; five times for Young and the Restless and once for General Hospital. He won his first Emmy in 2010 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama series in the role of Billy Abbott, and won twice more for the role with his last being in 2014 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. His co-star Eileen Davidson (who plays Ashley Abbott) also won, though at the time it was for her work as a lead actress on Days of Our Lives. Check out a picture of the two below:
