Gen V: Where was The Boys spin-off filmed?
Gen V just premiered on Prime Video, expanding the universe of the wild comic book TV show The Boys. But just where was it actually filmed?
Based on the comic book by Garth Ennis, The Boys takes place in a world where “superheroes” are corporate-controlled celebrities who care more about their public image and endorsement deals than saving the world. The show has emulated the comics in some truly shocking moments that defy imagination and some wild storylines.
Gen V is the first spin-off, taking place at Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, supposedly an academy meant to train the next generation of superheroes. It’s really so the Vought Corporation can tell which metahumans have the best potential for the public and which won’t make the cut. It’s also possible this is where several of this world’s supervillains get their secret origins.
A pack of students soon discover the dark secrets of the University and Vought that promise to shed more light on the backstory of The Boys universe and set up season 4 of the show. That looks like fun, but just where was Gen V actually filmed?
Where was Gen V filmed?
Per the Cinemaholic, like so many sci-fi series, Gen V was filmed in Toronto, which is always able to stand in for various cities like New York and others. The main filming locations appear to be Durham, Peel, Halton, and York.
For Goodolkin University, the production used the University of Toronto Mississauga. The campus was dressed up with new signs and banners to make it look like part of this superhero world and also utilized the city of Brampton and the district of Scarborough. Victoria University was also used for a few campus exterior shots.
So when viewers watch Gen V, they can know this was all filmed in the Great White North and how Canada stands in for this fantastic superhuman college.
