Where is It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown streaming in 2023? (Will it air on TV?)

It really isn’t and doesn’t feel like Halloween until you’ve celebrated the spooky season with Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang! There’s a few lovable holiday specials for certain times of the year. And right now, we’re looking at the season of changing leaves, pumpkins, and more! To do that, we have to set our sights on the online streaming world. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is streaming on Apple TV+ in 2023. And while that’s the case, unfortunately the special won’t air on TV this year.

Apple TV+ has the distribution rights to the Peanuts specials, but allowed ABC to air it during the spooky season for decades. However in 2020, that changed. PBS and the streaming service both aired and streamed the animation at the same time up until 2021. Now, the big pumpkin adventure is exclusive to Apple TV+.

But, there is some good news! You can watch the special for free on Apple TV+ on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023 and Sunday, Oct. 22, per TVLine. If you want to see it before or after, a subscription to the streamer is $6.99/month following a 7-day free trial. Looking ahead with the Thanksgiving and Christmas specials also on Apple TV+, you’ll be able to watch those for free on Nov. 18 and 19, and Dec. 16 and 17, respectively, TVLine shares.

What you need to know about the Charlie Brown Halloween special on Apple TV+

The beloved Halloween classic is centered around Linus who strongly believes in the Great Pumpkin. During the 25-minute special, we see how Linus tries his best to prove that the creature is real when he realizes none of his friends believes. And he decides to do so by spending the night alone in a pumpkin patch, per the synopsis.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown features Peter Robbins as Charlie Brown; Christopher Shea as Linus Van Pelt; Cathy Steinberg as Sally Brown; Bill Melendez as Snoopy; Sally Dryer as Lucy Van Pelt; Gai DeFaria as “Pig-Pen, “Glenn Mendelson as Schroeder and Shermy, Ann Altieri as Violet and Frieda; and Lisa DeFaria as Patty.

I know tuning in the special is a tradition for many of you, and it’s a disappointment that we can’t watch the Halloween animation on television like we’re used to. But, at least the beloved Peanuts gang isn’t gone for good. And there’s still a way to watch and celebrate the spooky season for free on a streaming platform. Just connect your computer to your TV, and you’ll be all set!
