Nearly eight months after the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the time has come for more multiversal shenanigans in the form of Loki season 2. The series had a strong first season, earning some of the highest ratings of any MCU series, and fans are eager to see what’s next for their favorite antihero.
For those who need a recap, season 1 focused on the Loki variant that escaped with the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame. Along with a pretty massive character change and identity crisis, the Loki variant began trying to find a way to achieve greatness (or maybe settle for happiness) despite the interference of the Time Variance Authority in maintaining the Sacred Timeline.
Season 1 ended with Loki’s variant-slash-love interest Sylvie killing He Who Remains, the variant of Kang the Conqueror who was maintaining the Sacred Timeline. This has massive implications on the MCU, teased through the events in Quantumania, and suggests that season 2 will be just as important.
For those eager to see more from Loki, his variants, and the officers of the TVA, the second season is finally here. Read on for more information on how long the season will be and how to watch each episode.
Loki season 2 episode count
Season 2 of Loki is going to be six episodes long, just like season 1. Currently, there are no titles released for the episodes, though audiences can expect them to follow similar naming conventions to the first season, focusing on Loki’s iconic lines and multiversal terminology.
According to early reviews, the second season will pick up exactly where the first season left off, with a special focus on Loki and his relationship with those around him. All of the main characters from season 1 are back, along with a handful of new actors and variants to challenge Loki’s world view.
Marvel has been very good at keeping secrets close to their chest, but executive producer Kevin Wright did share with Variety his central hope for where this season brings the character:
"“I think the the sun shining on Loki and Thor once again has always been the priority of the story we’re telling. But for that meeting to really be fulfilling, we have to get Loki to a certain place emotionally. I think that’s been the goal of these two seasons.”"
Whether this season will directly lead to that reunion or not, fans can expect these six episodes to be packed full of character development, with a goal toward a happier relationship between the Asgardian princes.
