The Exorcist is one of those horror movies that completely terrified its audience, and that hasn’t stopped just because time has gone by. In fact, it still took the top spot on Rotten Tomatoes’ “Top 10 Scariest Horror Movies Ever” list just last year. However, none of the sequels have been able to capture that same effect, despite four attempts.

On Oct. 6, Believer becomes the fifth sequel, attempting to put the scare factor back into the franchise. The new movie serves as a direct sequel to the original, following the parents of two girls who try to save their daughters from the demon possessing them.

One of the biggest questions on fans’ minds is whether the new movie will have the same cast as the original. While there is always the possibility of a surprise cameo or two, here’s everything we know about the cast and their connections to The Exorcist.

Is the original cast of The Exorcist in The Exorcist: Believer?

The only confirmed cast member from the original movie who will be in Believer is Ellen Burstyn, who plays Chris MacNeil in the franchise. Director David Gordon Green has confirmed that Linda Blair will not be in the movie, despite being a consultant on the film. However, her picture does appear in the trailer, confirming that Regan MacNeil is still central to the franchise. Fans can’t wait to learn how Regan is connected to it all and what this sinister being wants from her once and for all.
