Saturday Night Live season 49 release date, cast and more updates

SNL fans have very much been missing the sketch comedy series on NBC, especially after its abrupt season 48 ending due to the strikes. Needless to say, not only have we missed the show, but have also been nervous about cast member additions, exits, and other details for the upcoming season. We’re happy to report that we finally have good news about Saturday Night Live season 49.

The sketch comedy was one of the first to be affected by the strike. Season 48 kicked off with Miles Teller as the host and Kendrick Lamar as the musical guest. The season ran for 18 episodes, but there were a three more scheduled before the strike. Will the hosts who didn’t get to appear on the late-night comedy be invited back for the next season? We hope so! But when will Saturday Night Live season 49 premiere? Here’s everything we know so far.

Season 48 was originally set to feature just over 20 episodes. Scheduled to host on May 6, was Pete Davidson with musical guest Lil Uzi Vert. Then, on May 13, fans were excited to learn that Kieran Culkin would be hosting with musical guest Labrinth. Finally, the season 48 finale was going to be hosted by the amazing and lovely Jennifer Coolidge with musical guest Foo Fighters. All three of these episodes were canceled due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike.

Saturday Night Live season 49 returns October 14

After an indefinite hiatus, NBC has announced that season 49 returns on Saturday, Oct. 14. Now, as much as we have missed SNL, we know that, at the very heart of the comedy, are the writers. That said, we have always been supportive of the cast and crew that make us laugh every Saturday night.

Who is hosting the season 49 premieres (and beyond)?

Kicking off the highly anticipated season in fan favorite and SNL alum Pete Davidson. He will host with musical guest Ice Spice. We can’t wait to see Davidson on the show again, we’ve missed him! It’ll be nice to see him in his element, and it’s been a while so I’m sure he has plenty of tea to serve!

After Pete Davidson and Ice Spice’s week, Bad Bunny will take on double duty as musical guest and host. As soon as we learn more details about season 49, we’ll update this post.
