The Spencer Sisters episodes: How many episodes are in season 1?

With the actors strike and writers strike (which has been resolved) having caused major delays for the fall 2023 television schedule, it looks like networks like The CW have turned to international content to fill up some of their timeslots. And honestly, I think this is a really good idea. Just think about how many shows and movies that are not U.S. productions that are so great to watch! This fall, the company introduced Canadian series The Spencer Sisters.

Originally a CTV original series, now we get to see what the drama has to offer. It first premiered in January 2023 and came to and end in April this year in Canada. Now, us here in the U.S. get to enjoy its broadcast!

The Spencer Sisters season 1 has a total of 10 episodes. The show premiered on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023 on The CW. New hour-long episodes air weekly at 9 p.m. ET until the finale on Dec. 6, 2023. We shared the list of episodes and their air dates below:

All about the Canadian drama series

The show is centered around mother and daughter Victoria and Darby Spencer. The two use the fact that they’re often mistaken to be sisters to their advantage when they start up the Spencer Sisters Detective Agency. What leads them to this? Darby comes back home after leaving her job as a police officer because she didn’t feel like she was being appreciated. Her mystery novelist mother Victoria sees this as an opportunity to “pursue her dream” of becoming a private detective. And that’s how the two team up! Together, they take on cases in their hometown, Alder Bluffs.

While this is a Canadian series, the two leading ladies aren’t strangers to us U.S. viewers. The Spencer Sisters stars Lea Thompson as Victoria Spencer and Stacey Farber as Darby Spencer. Thompson is known for her roles in Back to the Future and Switched at Birth. You might recognize Farber from Virgin River and  Superman & Lois.

The rest of the cast is made up by Thomas Antony Olajide as Zane Graham; Edward Ruttle as Dr. Lucas Collins; Husein Madhavji as Alastair Dhumal; Ayesha Mansur Gonsalves as literary agent Sarita Stark; Rodrigo Massa as Antonio Pereira; Kaitlyn Leeb as Lindsay Yip; and Adam Hurtig as Detective Harris.

There is still no news on whether a second season of the drama is happening. But we’ll be sure to keep you updated! Based on the episodes that have come out so far, I think this series has been a great addition to The CW. I can’t wait to see where the story goes and would definitely not object to having a season 2.
