Apple TV+’s new series, Lessons in Chemistry, is taking us back to the 1950s! The drama is set to debut on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023. So how many episodes can we expect this season?

There are a total of eight episodes in Lessons in Chemistry on Apple TV+. Starting with premiere day, the first two will be released. They will be followed by one new installment weekly until the finale. The last episode comes out Friday, Nov. 24, 2023. We provided a breakdown of the episode release schedule below:

  • Episode 1, “Little Miss Hastings” – Oct. 13
  • Episode 2, “Her and Him” – Oct. 13
  • Episode 3 – Oct. 20
  • Episode 4 – Oct. 27
  • Episode 5 – Nov. 3
  • Episode 6 – Nov. 10

  • Episode 8 (finale) – Nov. 24

The limited series’ premiere introduces us to Elizabeth Zott, “a brilliant but frustrated” lab technician, per Apple TV+. When she’s caught doing her own research after hours, the company forces her hand at competing in the business’ beauty pageant. This leaves Elizabeth with “little patience” for her lab’s star chemist, “reclusive and entitled” Calvin Evans.

In the second episode, we’re going to see Elizabeth and Calvin working together in the hopes of getting the “prestigious” Remsen Foundation Grant, per the synopsis. But as the duo start to work together more, this partnership sees “unexpected results” in the lab, as well as outside of it.

I’m definitely ready and excited to watch the new series. Are you? Wondering what is it all about and who stars in it? We’ve got the answer for you below!

What we know about the new drama starring Brie Larson

MCU fans, you’re probably going to want to tune in! Fan-favorite Brie Larson, known as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in the superhero universe, takes on the lead role of Elizabeth Zott in the new Apple TV+ project. The actress also serves as an executive producer on the series. Joining her onscreen are Lewis Pullman as Calvin Evans; Aja Naomi King as Harriet Slone; Stephanie Koeing as Fran Frask; Kevin Sussman as Walter; Patrick Walker as Wakely; and Thomas Mann as Boryweitz.

The drama is based on the 2022 book of the same name by author, science editor, and copywriter Bonnie Garmus. It is centered around Elizabeth (Larson) whose dream of becoming a scientist hits a snag thanks to the patriarchal society in the early ’50s, per the synopsis. When she’s fired from her lab, she turns to hosting a cooking television show, Supper at Six. Now with a big platform, she’s determined to teach a “nation of overlooked housewives” and men who are suddenly listening, more than just recipes.

The trailer reveals how Elizabeth faces sexism in the scientific field she’s so good at, uses her cooking show as a platform to raise awareness and potentially spark political change, and we get glimpses into how she’s set to inspire other women to think more about themselves than just being housewives. The new show looks so interesting and has a wonderful story. I’m definitely adding it to my watch-list! Are you?
