Where is Upload filmed? (Filming location for the Prime Video series)
Prime Video series Upload starring Robbie Amell is back for its third season! The show premiered with the first two episodes on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023. Of course we’re excited to see the return of the sci-fi comedy. Plus, some of you might be wondering where filming took place.
Upload is mainly filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. Though the series is set in the United States, the Canadian city is the main spot where production set up shop. There’s actually many, many shows and movies that are set in the U.S., but use Vancouver as their filming location. So this definitely isn’t out of the ordinary.
Where are all the locations located exactly? Are there any you can actually visit? We’ve got the answer for you below!
Breaking down the Upload filming locations
Lakeview Hotel
According to Atlas of Wonder, the fictional afterlife hotel featured in Upload, Lakeview Resort, is mostly filmed in Vancouver though it’s set in New York and Los Angeles. A replica of the lobby, rooms, and other interior shots were shot in the studio in Burnaby, British Columbia.
For the outside, crews headed to the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, New York. And the one time the lobby was filmed outside of the replica was when production used Castle Green in Pasadena, California.
Characters’ homes and places of work
The Cecil Green Park House in Vancouver is used for the beautiful garden it houses. Many productions have used this space, and the public can actually use it for corporate events and weddings. Elsewhere, the outside of Nora’s office at the Horizen headquarters was filmed in Brooklyn, New York while the entrance to the office is located in Vancouver, per Atlas of Wonder. So overall, filming mostly takes place in Vancouver, Canada. But, there are certain scenes shot in New York and California that are needed to bring the whole visual together onscreen.
What to expect from season 3
Upload season 3 starts with Nora and “freshly downloaded Nathan” trying to figure out their relationship in the VR afterlife while also tracking down the threat that could “destroy millions of lives,” per the synopsis. Elsewhere, a backup copy of Nathan has been activated and Ingrid sees this as a second chance at love.
Robbie Amell stars as Nathan, Andy Allo as Nora, Kevin Bigley as Luke, Allegra Edwards as Ingrid, Zainab Johnson as Aleesha, and Owen Daniels as A.I. Guy.
