Right now, the usual TV season is still a mess, thanks to the ongoing SAG strike, even if the WGA strike is handled. This means NBC is trying to handle the possibility the 2024 TV season may be delayed a bit longer but is still preparing some new shows.
This includes Dr. Wolf, which comes from writer/executive producer Michael Grassi (Riverdale, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin). It’s inspired by the true life of Dr. Oliver Sacks, who was featured in the books The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat and An Anthropologist on Mars. It looks to be another intriguing medical series.
What is Dr. Wolf about?
In the works since 2018, the series focuses on Oliver Wolf, who (per TVLine) is “a revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist, and his team of interns as they explore the last great frontier — the human mind — while also grappling with their own relationships and mental health.”
Dr. Wolf cast
The big star is Zachary Quinto as Wolf, marking the Heroes star returning to NBC. The supporting cast includes Teddy Sears, Ashleigh LaThrop and Spencer Moore II but no word yet on what characters they play.

Dr. Wolf premieres in spring 2024
As the series has just been ordered, there’s no word yet on when it will air. While the writers can craft scripts, it means nothing until the actor’s strike is settled. NBC is hoping they can make a spring 2024 premiere date, but if the SAG strike lasts longer, the drama may not air until the fall of 2024.
While the series is still in the early stages, it looks like Dr. Wolf will fill a gap for a new medical drama on NBC when it does air in 2024. As soon as we learn more, we’ll be sure to update this post!
