No, Markiplier is not in the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie (And here’s why)

Five Nights at Freddy’s is now playing in theaters everywhere and streaming on Peacock. Fans of the franchise have been rushing to watch, wondering if YouTuber Markiplier is in the movie. Here’s what we know!

The popular animatronic characters have a massive fanbase. The very first game was released almost a decade ago in August 2014. Needless to say, the lore is not easy to get into if you are new to the games. At the same time, if you go into the movie not knowing much at all, you’ll be just fine! Five Nights is an adaptation of the game and main story, but everything you need to know is explained, so you won’t feel confused or lost.

The supernatural horror’s premise is simple, a once popular entertainment center is inhabited by four animatronics that kill anyone who stays there after midnight. That is, unless they survive the week, which is easier said than done.

So, does YouTuber and super fan Markiplier have a role in the movie? Unfortunately, he does not. And Markiplier, himself, has explained why this is.

Markiplier explains why he’s not in the FNAF movie

For those not in-the-know, Markiplier (real name Mark Edward Fischbach) aka “the King of FNAF” is widely known in the gaming community for his walk-through videos of the Five Nights at Freddy’s games. According to IGN, in his videos, Markiplier “dropped one or two hints of his intended involvement in the movie.” To say that fans were super excited is an understatement.

In the video above, shares that he very much wanted to be part of the movie, but his busy schedule didn’t allow him. At the time, Markiplier was creating his own movie, Iron Lung. Due to both Five Nights and his own film, Markiplier had to turn down a role he was offered in the horror. It’s really too bad, but understandable.

Who knows? There could be a Five Nights at Freddy’s sequel Markiplier will join. In the meantime, be sure to check out the movie! As for Iron Lung, it does not have a premiere date just yet, but it is expected to arrive in early to mid 2024 — we’ll keep you posted!
