The wait for Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12 is nearly over. HBO announced the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm is coming to HBO and MAX in early 2024 during the CEO of HBO Casey Bloys’ presentation of HBO’s 2024 content slate on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023.

According to a report from TV Line, it was revealed during the presentation that Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12 will premiere in February 2024. The release date for season 12 has not been announced. That will come later, but it’s great to know the new season of Larry David’s hit comedy series is coming soon.

Season 11 premiered in October 2021, and it was unclear if that would be the end of the hit series, but HBO renewed the series for a 12th season in August 2022. David stars in the series with Jeff Garland, JB Smoove, Cheryl Hines, Richard Lewis, Susie Essman, along with a bunch of recurring and guest stars. There’s no doubt it’s one of the funniest shows on TV and has been for more two decades. Officially, Curb Your Enthusiasm is the longest-running HBO series of all time.

Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12 all but confirmed to be the final season

It’s not all good news about Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12, though. It’s all but confirmed that Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12 will be the final season of the series. Star of the series, Richard Lewis, tweeted a picture after filming what he called his final scene on March 25.

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Jon Hayman, a Curb producer, tweeted a photo and shared a message confirming the final episode of the series was filmed.

If those closest to the series claim this is the end of the line for Curb, we’ll have to take their word for it, but not all of them are in agreement.

Jeff Schaffer, an executive producer, had this to say about the series ending, via Deadline:

"“Reports of our demise have been greatly exaggerated. We literally just finished shooting last week. So, yeah, we’re done.”"

Bloys, though, was asked about Curb Your Enthusiasm ending during the November presentation, and he pushed back on season 12 being the final season, according to Deadline.

"“We generally leave that up to Larry, and I think he’s thinking about what he wants to do,” Bloys said. “He knows it’s been an open invitation, so I think he’s going to decide if he wants to do more or whether this is going to be the final season, I would guess before it airs.”"

David has not commented publicly on Curb ending in a long time. In the past, David has always been able to come back for more seasons, so it’s definitely possible that could happen. We’ll have to wait and see, but THR also reported that David’s contract with HBO is up soon, so for another season beyond season 12, David would have to go back into negotiations and sign another deal with HBO to make it happen.

Honestly, I hope this is not the end of the run for Curb. The show’s quality has dipped a bit in recent years, but it’s truly unlike any comedy on TV right now. It’s still so, so funny.
