Is SEAL Team new tonight on CBS? (Nov. 2, 2023)
By Sabrina Reed
SEAL Team is making its way back to CBS tonight. The military drama, which got its start on the network in 2017, moved to Paramount+ in its fifth season. Fans will be excited to see its return to television, however, don’t expect it to be the season 7 premiere.
The episode airing tonight at 10 p.m. ET is its season 5 debut, “Trust, But Verify: Part 1,” which originally aired on CBS back on Oct. 10, 2021. As a part of its Fall 2023 line-up, the network has included SEAL Team season 5 on its roster, giving viewers the opportunity to watch the season that had been put on streaming after just four episodes aired two years ago.
The season 5 premiere catches up with Bravo team during a training exercise that’s revealed to be a covert mission which is a shock to everyone. The job is to smuggle a weapons expert out of a country that’s been labeled one of the most dangerous in the world.
CBS viewers can anticipate SEAL Team season 5 being a Thursday night staple on the network. While the SAG-AFTRA strike is still ongoing, time will tell if the entire 14 episode season will air.As Hidden Remote previously reported, the network is looking to bring back their returning series by early 2024. But if CSI: Vegas isn’t ready to go by the time that window arrives, we could see SEAL Team remain in the 10 p.m. slot.
There’s no word on if SEAL Team season 7 is in production
SEAL Team was renewed for its seventh season back in January 2023. The writers strike started in May, even if the writers room had gotten a underway well before the strike, they likely wouldn’t have finished writing the entire season. While writers rooms have been opening since the week of Oct. 2, there’s been no word on if the team behind this Paramount+ original is working on season 7. Unfortunately, this does mean fans are in limbo for now in terms of when the series could make its return. However, a 2024 release window is still viable.
