Yellowstone looks ready to continue onward in 2024! But when will it arrive and who will star in it? Read and find out more here!
For four seasons, Yellowstone has been one of TV’s biggest hits, a monster ratings grabber, creating huge buzz and sensational acting. However, the big drama has been behind the scenes, with reports creator Taylor Sheridan and star Kevin Costner were butting heads on everything from pay to creative control.
It led to Paramount announcing that season 5 would be the last for the series and split into two halves. The first half has aired, but thanks to the ongoing strikes in Hollywood, Part 2 has been delayed. Now, the studio has made public that not only will the final episodes of season 5 air in 2024, but they’ll be followed by a brand new series called 2024.

The big news is that Costner is gone, and the new lead will be Oscar-winner Matthew McConaughey. There’s no word on who he plays, but a huge name like this can easily be a good replacement for Costner.
While it’s expected some past Yellowstone characters will return, given how season 5 part 2 is likely to include huge changes, some characters may not even survive. So while Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, Luke Grimes and other series regulars on the flagship may appear, there’s also a good chance the series features a fresh roster of characters to back up McConaughey in the drama.
Paramount is hoping to have the series premiere in December 2024, likely on Paramount+ (the home of the franchise’s spin-offs), after Yellowstone season 5 part 2 airs. Obviously, it depends on when the SAG strike is finally settled and work can begin, so it may possibly be 2025 before the series hits. Much is still up in the air as the hit Yellowstone franchise looks to expand.
Yellowstone seasons 1-5 are streaming on Peacock.
