Updated Nov. 13, 2023 – Marcia Gay Harden and Skylar Astin sure do make a great onscreen mother and son duo! The two actors’ chemistry is so on point, and they portray their characters very well. So Help Me Todd was one of the best new shows to come out in 2023, and we definitely want more! And now we have the great news that So Help Me Todd season 2 is coming in February 2024!

The series was created by Scott Prendergast, who also serves as an executive producer. He’s joined by Michael Spiller, Phillip C. McGraw, Jay McGraw, Julia Eisenman, Elizabeth J.B. Klaviter, Amy York Rubin, Craig Shapiro, Liz Kruger, and Stuart Gillard in EP duties. Here’s everything we know about the second season ahead of its release!

So Help Me Todd season 2 gets a February 2024 release date

We have amazing news! Following months of delays and wondering when our favorite show would be back, CBS has now shared an official release date. So Help Me Todd season 2 premieres Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. It will be followed by the Young Sheldon season 7 premiere and Ghosts season 3 premiere earlier that night.

The series was supposed to be a part of CBS’ fall 2023 television schedule, but the debut of the new season had to be pushed because of the Hollywood strikes, which are now resolved (more on that below). Even though we’ve faced a delay, that’s ok. At least we now know when the series will be back! According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming on the new season is supposed to start back up in late November/early December.

The legal drama was renewed on Feb. 2, 2023, the day the show’s twelfth episode of season 1 aired. The renewal news came about halfway through the season, which is definitely no easy feat! Especially in the broadcast world, this doesn’t happen often.

The network hasn’t announced how many episodes the second season will be. ThoughVariety shares that season 2 will most likely be somewhere between 10 to 13 episodes. So expect a shortened season compared to the first, which had a total of 21 episodes.

The first season of the show is currently streaming on Paramount+. There’s a total of 21 episodes. Since this is a broadcast series, new episodes of season 2 will air Thursday nights on CBS, and will stream on Paramount+ the next day they air.

Has So Help Me Todd season 2 been affected by the strikes?

Yes, So Help Me Todd season 2 has been affected by the now resolved strikes. The second season’s debut has been delayed since the writers actors were on strike. Initially, the series was supposed to come back in CBS’ fall 2023 television schedule. However since the writers and actors couldn’t work during the strikes, a delay happened which resulted in the the legal drama not returning in 2023.

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), who represents the big studios, came to an agreement on and a new contract was signed and went into effect starting on Sept. 25, 2023. That means the writers strike is over! While no official news has come on whether the show’s writers room has reopened, it’s very likely it will very soon. The agreement is in effect through May 1, 2026.

The Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and AMPTP have come to a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract, which means the actors strike has come to an end as of Nov. 9, 2023! Members need to vote on the proposal, but actors and productions can resume filming once again.
