Updated: Nov. 13, 2023 – NBC has confirmed that The Irrational won’t be returning with new episodes until 2024.

We don’t like it either but it looks like we’ll be bidding adieu to The Irrational‘s for the time being. TVLine reports the ten episode season wasn’t finished filming before the Hollywood strikes ground the entertainment industry to a halt. As such, NBC only slated seven of the planned ten episodes to air. Episode 7, “The Real Deal,” which premiered Nov. 6, was the last one the network had banked, so it won’t be new tonight (Nov. 13) or for the foreseeable future.

There is, however, good news. The Irrational is among the shows with tentative production start dates for late November, once Thanksgiving weekend comes to a close. According to Hollywood North Buzz, filming will officially wrap for season 1 on Dec. 22, 2023.

With only three episodes left to shoot, we’re not likely to be kept waiting long for the show’s return. But don’t get your hopes up for a December release for episode 8. While NBC hasn’t confirmed that the series will make a midseason come back, the likelihood of us watching another episode of The Irrational before the year ends is incredibly low.

But if you’re behind on the series, now is the perfect time to catch up via Peacock! Just to tease what you’ve missed, Alec is on the dating scene again. He and Rose, the fixer we met in episode 5, “Zero Sum,” went out in episode 7. They’ve found a connection and do want to see where it goes. Meanwhile, Kylie and Marisa mended fences. The healing was in the room with us and it was just what the doctor ordered.

As for what to expect next, we’re not sure, but we do know we can count on the storyline surrounding the bombing Alec survived to be wrapped up in the remaining three episodes. After that, we’ll be waiting to see if NBC renews the series so we can go on even more cases with Jesse L. Martin in this intriguing procedural.
