If you’re a part of the comparatively small collective of viewers who’ve been enjoying Everyone Else Burns and Run the Burbs on Thursday nights, I’m sorry to have to tell you the comedies have been pulled from The CW’s line-up.

In this new era, run by majority owner Nexstar, comedies have been trying to find their place on a network that didn’t cater to that audience for years. Sure, the Arrowverse shows like The Flash and especially Legends of Tomorrow had humor baked into their storytelling. But, as far as tried and true comedies, they were non-existent after the critically acclaimed and award-winning series Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and iZombie aired their final episodes.

What we’ve gotten in 2022 is a host of acquired series that have seen success in their home countries, the UK for Everyone Else Burns and Canada for Run the Burbs, with the hope that they’d pop stateside but that hasn’t been the case. The irreverent UK comedy has only aired three episodes on The CW, hasn’t been able to crack at least 200K on the night views, and has been averaging down. Run the Burbs season 2 did premiere to 206K views but fell below that number by episode 2, and was out of the 200,000s by episode 3.

This would explain why the network has pulled the shows from the line-up, though there’s been no confirmation that they won’t return to air in 2024 or at least be able available to stream on cwtv.com and the CW App. The latter has been done for the growing list of series that have been removed from the schedule over the past several months like Barons, Bump, Down to Earth with Zac Efron, and Fantastic Friends.

In Everyone Else Burns and Run the Burbs place will be reruns of Whose Line Is It Anyway? and The Great American Joke Off starting Thursday, Nov. 16 at 9 p.m. ET. Time will tell if the UK comedy’s removal from The CW will impact its season 2 renewal with the network. It’d gotten the green light for a second season ahead of its US premiere. At the time, CW President of Entertainment Brad Schwartz had the following to say:

"“Everyone Else Burns is a brilliant and bitingly funny series that is as much about family as it is about the end of days. There is truly no other comedy on television like it, and we are thrilled to work alongside the immensely talented writers and producers to bring the uniquely hilarious Lewis family to The CW for another season.”"

Perhaps the thinking has changed on the comedy’s placement in the fall schedule and it’ll be moved to the summer. Hidden Remote will keep you posted. There had been no announcement that Run the Burbs third season would be ran on The CW, so season 2 may be its last with the network.
