Was NCIS: Sydney really filmed in Australia?
By Sandy C.
On Nov. 14, the NCIS franchise grew once more with the premiere of NCIS: Sydney. The biggest question fans have about the new spin-off, is if it really is filmed in Australia or just another Hollywood, California studio?
If you missed the series premiere, know that you’re at least only one episode behind (at the time of this writing) and can catch up quickly by streaming the episode on the Paramount+ platform. This is the first spin-off that takes place outside of the states, so you’re going to want to check it out.
NCIS: Sydney is proud to feature local Australian actors and producers in an attempt to make the series as unique and authentic as possible. It stars Australian-born talent Todd Lasance, Tuuli Narkle, Mavournee Hazel, and William McInnes. Also featured are Olivia Swann and Sean Sagaar. But, what about the filming location?
Yes, NCIS: Sydney really is filmed in Australia
According to Express, the latest spin-off in the franchise is filmed on location in Sydney, Australia, as well as “various other locations around the city.” The source also shares that the stars worked with the Australian Navy as part of their training for the show.
Don’t want to miss another episode? After you catch up with the series premiere (titled “Gone Fission) on Paramount+, make sure to catch season 1 episode 2, titled “Snakes in the Grass,” on Nov. 21. The third episode, titled “Brothers in Arms,” is then set to air on CBS on Nov. 28. All episodes air at 8 p.m. on the CBS network, but you can stream these on Paramount+, as well.
Just as the other spin-offs in the franchise, NCIS: Sydney follows a team of special agents in the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (the NCIS). Each episode features the team investigating crimes in their city and surrounding areas, all primarily set in Sydney, Australia.
Other NCIS spin-offs include Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Hawai’i. Are you a fan of all five shows? Which would you say is your favorite?
