The first season of Hulu’s enticing drama, Tell Me Lies, introduced Lucy and Stephen’s whirlwind (and highly toxic) romance. Will season 2 continue exploring their complex relationship? Here’s everything we know so far.

Hulu’s Tell Me Lies was received with positive reviews from critics, but audiences were divided. It’s important to note, however, that only seven RT Certified critics have reviewed the series. The pilot episode certainly pulls you in, but, at least in my humble opinion, it loses viewers after a few episodes. The story drags and feels longer than necessary, situations are repetitive, and a lot of scenes don’t add anything to the story, as if only cheaply included for shock value.

Tell Me Lies, adapted from the novel by Carola Lovering, features Grace Van Patten portraying Lucy, a young woman starting her freshman year in college. Jackson White brings the character of Stephen to life, a pretentious upperclassman. The drama begins four years after Lucy’s graduation, before jumping back eight years.

Tell Me Lies season 2 release date and filming

Let’s start with the good news. Even though a renewal announcement didn’t come right after the season 1 finale, a second season was ordered in late November 2022. As for when Tell Me Lies season 2 is coming, that’s the disappointing news as we are not sure! What we do know is that 2023 is out of the question, and so is early 2024.

Due to the Writers Guild and Screen Actors Guild strikes, work on the second season was not possible. Now that the strikes are over, writing and filming may commence, but, understandably, this isn’t going to happen right away.

We’ll be sure to keep you posted with any updates as we learn more. As of right now, our best guess is that production will kick off early 2024, aiming for a release date in mid to late-2024.

Another thing to keep an eye out on is the Tell Me Lies season 2 cast. Though it has not been officially announced, we are expecting Grace Van Patten and Jackson White to reprise their roles. The return of Natalie Lines, Catherine Missal, and Branden Cook is also a safe bet.

Tell Me Lies season 2 synopsis

The first season left fans with many questions, failing to close several loose ends. That said, we can expect for things to pick up where they left off. To tease fans, Meaghan Oppenheimer shared that upcoming events in season 2 are going to get “messier” as the show’s theme will now shift to revenge. If that’s not enough to capture your attention, I don’t know what is!

As soon as we learn more details, we’ll update this post to keep you in-the-know. In the meantime, be sure to rewatch the first season, streaming on Hulu.
