6. Angela and Carlos – Cha Cha Cha

I’ll admit, when I saw that Angela Scanlon and Carlos Gu had the Cha Cha Cha, I was worried for her. She’s one of the few Strictly contestants in history to make it this far with most of her party Latin still to go, and she struggled with her Samba just a few short weeks ago. That being said, she did a great job here and performed well with a very difficult dance.

She nailed the performance aspect of the dance and managed to maintain the flow throughout – which is impressive for a dance that can look like it’s being walked if the technique is wrong. She also managed to produce those straight legs that the Cha Cha is all about, offering up some great Cha Cha walks in the midst of the routine.

The judges did mention that she struggled to get the hip action right, and we agree with them. It did look a little stilted at times while some of the other elements looked a bit spiky because of that too. It’s a shame that she ended up getting the Cha Cha so late in the game, because even though Angela exceeded expectations here, she still finds herself at the bottom of Strictly Week 10’s Leaderboard.

Our score: 8
