2. Annabel and Johannes – Paso Doble

Annabel and Johannes have been on quite the streak. Like Bobby and Dianne, they have been quietly consistent throughout the majority of the Strictly series. But three weeks ago, they delivered their beautiful Couple’s Choice routine, and ever since, Annabel has since flourished into one of the best dancers in the competition. This week was the perfect example of that.

Dancing the Paso Doble, they went on third (which is usually considered one of the quieter slots) and absolutely brought the house down with their performance. Opting for traditional music, they danced a very traditional Paso Doble, and it gave us everything we could have wanted from such a routine. Spanish lines? Check. Cape work? Check. Intent and passion? Check.

I was so impressed with Annabel watching this. From the moment she lunged into Johannes’ arms, to those slow drags of her feet that Motsi commended her on, this was the greatest moment on her Strictly journey thus far, and an absolutely exquisite routine. The audience reaction afterwards said it all.

From her Couple’s Choice, to her Samba, to her American Smooth, and now this Paso Doble, Annabel is a real contender and we love to see it!

Our score: 10
