What you need to know about Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert film:

  • Video on demand release date: Dec. 13, 2023
  • Streaming release date: TBA, the movie doesn’t have a streaming home yet
  • Runtime: 181 minutes (3 hours, 1 minute)
  • Rating: PG-13 for some strong language and suggestive materials

Taylor Swift is turning 34 this year and on her birthday fans can anticipate the release of her Eras Tour concert film on-demand. The icon has been burning up 2023 first while on tour (which she is currently still on overseas), the film version of the Eras Tour basically saved the Box Office during the Hollywood strikes, her romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has captivated the world and opened the NFL to an untapped market of music fandom, and now she’s about to be shining bright as the star that she is on our screens at home on Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Swift made the announcement on her Instagram telling her legion of fans that she thought releasing the concert film on-demand for her birthday would be a “fun way to celebrate the year we’ve had together.” She also shared that it would be available to rent in US and Canada with additional countries to be announced at a later date. A price point has yet to be set for on-demand version of the movie, but we do know that it’s going to be longer than its theatrical release which clocked in at 2 hours and 49 minutes. This is because of the addition of three more songs: “Wildest Dreams,” “The Archer,” and “Long Live.”

If you’re waiting for the Eras Tour film to hit a streaming platform, we may get an announcement on where the movie is going to go before 2023 comes to an end or, knowing Swift’s marketing genius, it’ll be on New Year’s Day. We’ll keep you posted. But, in the meantime, we do know that it won’t be heading to Peacock.

IndieWire reports that while Eras will be headed to premium video on-demand (PVOD) via Universal that a spokesperson did confirm: “There are no plans of the platform getting the film at this time.” So that leaves Netflix, Max, Hulu, Paramount+, and Disney+ as options. Though we wouldn’t be surprised if streamer to the masses–Netflix–scoops the movie up for an early 2024 streaming release date.
