Fire Country season 2 starts filming in December, here’s when!
By Sabrina Reed
December is here and the month is bringing with it not only the holiday spirit but also production start dates for long awaited television shows. Among those whose cameras are set to start rolling this month is Fire Country season 2. As reported by Hollywood North Buzz, filming on the firefighter drama starts Monday, Dec. 11 and will run until April 4, 2024 in Vancouver.
Not much is known about the second season plot wise aside from what needs to be wrapped up from the first season. Sharon still hasn’t gotten a kidney transplant though her brother-in-law Luke is a match so that storyline should be front and center in the show’s sophomore season. Of course, what’s going to take precedence is Bode being back in prison. It’s anyone’s guess how the writers are going to get him back to Three Rock Fire Camp or perhaps out of the penal system all together.
Showrunner Tia Napolitano did tease that the premiere, which is titled “Something’s Coming,” will leave the audience “shocked.” This is due to where the characters will be in their stories when we’re returned to their lives on Fire Country. It’ll be interesting to see where the plot goes in season 2 since it’s expected to have a truncated episode count due to the delay in production. The most we can hope for is 13 episodes, however, it could be as short as 10. An official episode count has yet to be shared by CBS.
What we do know is that season 2 will premiere on Friday, Feb. 16 at 9 p.m. ET and finale sometime in May 2024. The procedural hasn’t been greenlit for a third season, however, it’s likely it will be. It’s one of the most successful shows on the network. In fact, it did so well in its freshman run that at least two spin-offs are on the table. TVLine reports that one is expected to be centered on a sheriff.
