The premiere of Friends starts with Monica welcoming Rachel to the now-iconic Central Perk cafe in New York City. Having just left her fiancé at the altar, Rachel catches attention in her wedding dress. After reconnecting with Monica, Rachel needs emotional support and a place to stay now that she’s single. Enter: The rest of the group. Rachel then meets Monica’s friends which include Ross, Joey, Phoebe, and Chandler, and the rest is history! Monica offers Rachel a place to stay and Rachel decides she’s going to start a new, independent life.

Elsewhere in the first episode, Ross is dealing with his recent divorce, and it’s not difficult for him to remember Rachel — and the feelings he once had for her.

Many would call the pilot their favorite Friends episode, and we understand why. It’s such a classic! Not only does it introduce our favorite characters, but it also establishes some of the most memorable locations and relationships. Rachel’s storyline is really awesome throughout the 10 seasons and it’s so fun to think back to where she first started after moving in with Monica and leaving her old life behind.
