3 storylines the 911 writers need to revisit when season 10 arrives

When 911 Season 10 returns, there is so much potential for what storylines we could see. Here are 3 arcs the writers need to revisit when Season 10 arrives.

Season 9 of 911 certainly had its ups and downs for fans of the show, from plot lines that started as quickly as they finished to some characters not getting as much screen time as others. While this is usually the case with a large cast, it becomes noticeable when certain favorites are left out.

There are still some plots we want to see revisited when season 10 rolls out during the ABC fall 2026-2027 television season. Whether it is because there’s more to be told about a character’s arc or we want to see more of a favorite pairing, there’s so much the 911 writers can do to turn things around for such a milestone season.

1. Allow Buck to have a relationship of his own

When season 9 ended, fans were left stunned, feeling as though the season was setting Evan “Buck” Buckley (Oliver Stark) up to either find someone new, romance-wise, or even potentially have closure with his former beau Tommy Kinard (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) after his name was brought up in an episode where Buck tried dating again. Instead, he ended up fostering his friends’ son, Theo, after they passed. Buck had originally just been the boy’s sperm donor. It felt like such a twist that no one saw coming, and it didn't seem to match with where the show seemed to be going with Buck.

Buck is a character who loves with his whole heart, and he’s one of the few remaining members of the team who has yet to find someone permanent in his life. He’s always wanted a family of his own. Sure, he can be his own family with Theo, but fans have wanted to see Buck in a fulfilling and happy relationship since the beginning of the show.

Whether he finds that with someone new or we see him receive closure or reunite with his ex, there’s still potential there for Buck to find someone special. We’re not saying he needs to complicate things further at the moment while trying to raise Theo, but we would love to see him find happiness at some point in a romantic setting.

JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT

2. Allow Maddie to have more connections outside of work

Jennifer Love Hewitt plays Maddie Buckley Han so perfectly, and while she had some amazing career growth in season 9, we would love to see more of her outside of work. Whether navigating being a mom of two or helping save lives, there is so much potential for Maddie, who has been an integral part of the show since her arrival in season 2.

Season 9 did not give us as much of Maddie with her husband Howie “Chimney” Han (Kenneth Choi) and her family, so season 10 would be perfect for us to see how they balance work and raising kids, especially now that they both have important roles in their jobs.

Maddie was also extremely supportive and sweet with her husband when he became fire captain, and we love seeing them together. Season 10 could give us some fun moments between them, especially if they are working together somehow, whether personally or professionally. It’s not just her relationship with her family we want to see more of, but also the friendships she has cultivated with other characters, such as Hen (Aisha Hinds); Karen (Tracie Thoms) Wilson; and Athena Grant (Angela Bassett). In other words, we want more Maddie in season 10 and to watch her continue to thrive.

3. Give fans more of Ravi’s backstory

Now that firefighter Ravi Panikaar (Anirudh Pisharody) has become more integrated in the team and is now dating May Grant (Corinne Massiah), Athena’s daughter, we would love to see season 10 explore his family background. All we know about Ravi so far is that he is a childhood cancer survivor and he is a landlord outside of being a firefighter.

Ravi has become such an important character ever since we met him in Season 4 as a probie. He was one of the few firefighters who were the last to see their former captain, Bobby Nash (Peter Krause), before his passing, and with the connections he has formed since, there’s so much potential to see who he is besides being a firefighter.

He has grown so much but we would love Season 10 to explore more about who he is outside of work, and it would be fun to see what his relationship with Athena would be like now that he is May’s boyfriend. Plus, he helped save Athena’s life in the season 9 finale, so it would be special to see that kind of relationship form.

These are just some of the storylines we’d love the show to revisit or explore in season 10. Obviously they are not the only ones, and if we listed them all, we would be here all day! But all in all, 911 is a show that has so much potential for storylines outside of the emergencies, and we hope the writers explore all these beloved characters have to offer.

911 is currently streaming on Hulu. We will keep you updated on when the show returns for season 10.
