There's some slightly disappointing news to share with 911 fans. After the first 911 and 911: Nashville crossover event officially closed the gap between the two shows, don't expect any other crossovers to happen this season. Each show is now on individual paths to their own season finales.

911 showrunner Tim Minear spoke with TV Insider following the most recent episode of season 9 sent Buck and Eddie off on a very memorable road trip. The outlet asked the franchise boss whether there are any other crossover moments planned with 911: Nashville this season, but Minear confirmed that after the Firefighter Games, we shouldn't hold our breath for another crossover.

"No more crossovers," Minear said. "All the characters will have something. I got some big twists and turns coming up. I mean, hopefully, you’ll find that the last run of episodes grow out of everything that sort of came before [in] this season on some level. Things have been set up a little sneakily earlier on, and all that will come to fruition. But yeah, there’s a few jaw-dropping moments coming up, I think."

For some fans, that will certainly be a bummer. The crossover episodes proved how seamlessly the shows intermingle with each other, even though only two 911 characters appeared on 911: Nashville. Buck and Eddie fit in well with Nashville's characters, especially Blue and Ryan, and that chemistry could have been used for a possible joint season finale event leading into their next seasons.

However, that's the good news. ABC renewed both shows911 for season 10 and 911: Nashville for season 2 — which means the possibilities for crossovers next television season will definitely be taking shape in the writers' rooms. Somehow, it would be incredible for the shows to work up to crossover events as big and epic as those happening in One Chicago on NBC.

We might not be getting crossovers in any capacity at the end of the season, but Minear teased that 911 season 9 still has something in store for "all the characters." The boss suggested that there were some sneaky seeds planted early on in the season that will come back around toward the end in an effort to drop our jaws. Honestly, the concept of that is more exciting than a crossover!

Considering this season started with a space travel mission, 911 fans could probably only begin to guess what Minear has up his sleeve for the characters ahead of the season finale. But he also teased that Buck will be handling the aftermath of trauma from his road trip with Eddie in the upcoming next few episodes. That's sure to be an interesting ride, especially given the love for those characters.

Both 911 and 911: Nashville have five episodes remaining in their current 18-episode seasons following the March 12 episodes. We're quickly racing toward the season finales. The end of 911's previous season brought Bobby's unexpected death, so fans are understandably on edge about what could be coming down the pipeline this time around. Well, let's buckle up for the final stretch!
